The Ruins of Nalanda Mahavihara are the remains of one of the world’s oldest and most influential residential universities, located in Nalanda district of Bihar. Nalanda flourished from the 5th to the 12th century and was a major center of learning supported by Gupta and Pala rulers. Scholars from India, China, Tibet, Korea, and Southeast Asia came here to study Buddhism, philosophy, medicine, mathematics, logic, and astronomy.
