Son Bhandar Caves are ancient rock-cut caves located in Rajgir, in the Nalanda district of Bihar. These caves date back to the Mauryan period and are believed to be associated with Jain monks. The name Son Bhandar means “Store of Gold,” and local legends say hidden treasure lies within the caves. The caves are carved into solid rock and feature polished interiors similar to Mauryan architecture. One cave is known for inscriptions written in Brahmi script. Son Bhandar is closely connected to Jain history, as Rajgir was an important Jain center. The site offers scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Son Bhandar Caves remain an important archaeological and religious landmark in Bihar.
