Rajmahal Hills are an ancient hill range located in eastern Jharkhand, mainly in the Sahibganj and Godda districts. These hills stretch along the banks of the Ganga River and form a natural boundary between Jharkhand and West Bengal. The Rajmahal Hills are geologically significant and are made up largely of volcanic basalt rock formed millions of years ago. The region is covered with forests, rocky terrain, and scattered tribal settlements. The hills have historical importance, as the ancient city of Rajmahal once served as the capital of Bengal during the Mughal period. The area is rich in biodiversity and supports wildlife, birds, and native vegetation. Several small rivers and streams originate from these hills and flow toward the Ganga. Rajmahal Hills offer scenic landscapes and reflect a blend of natural beauty, geology, history, and tribal culture.
