Kesaria Stupa is a prominent ancient Buddhist monument located in the East Champaran district of Bihar. It is believed to be one of the tallest Buddhist stupas in the world, reflecting the grandeur of ancient Buddhist architecture. The stupa is associated with Lord Buddha’s last journey, when he is said to have given his alms bowl to the people of Vaishali at this place. Kesaria was an important stop along the ancient Buddhist pilgrimage route. The massive circular structure is built with layered bricks and shows multiple phases of construction over centuries. Archaeological studies suggest its development during the Mauryan and later periods. The site offers insight into the spread of Buddhism in eastern India. Kesaria Stupa continues to attract historians, pilgrims, and tourists interested in Buddhist heritage.
