Maulana Azad Library is the prestigious central library of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India (AMU Campus, Aligarh 202001), and stands as one of the largest and most historic academic libraries in India and Asia. Established originally in 1877 and formally inaugurated in its current seven-storey form in 1960, the library boasts an extensive collection of over 1.8 million books, rare manuscripts, periodicals, and research journals that support diverse academic disciplines and research across the university. Surrounded by beautifully maintained lawns and gardens within the AMU campus, Maulana Azad Library serves thousands of students, faculty, and researchers daily and is named in honor of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister and a noted scholar.
