Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary, located in western Uttar Pradesh, is a vast and ecologically rich protected area spread across the districts of Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, and Jyotiba Phule Nagar (Amroha). Established in 1986, the sanctuary lies along the fertile Ganga–Hindon river basin, approximately 95 km northeast of New Delhi, making it a popular nature getaway from the NCR region. Known for its diverse landscapes of wetlands, grasslands, and moist deciduous forests, Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary is home to wildlife such as spotted deer, sambar, nilgai, wild boar, porcupine, and over 300 species of resident and migratory birds. With its proximity to the historic town of Hastinapur—an important site in Indian mythology—the sanctuary offers a unique blend of natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural heritage, making it an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts, bird watchers, and eco-tourists visiting Uttar Pradesh.
