Dilkusha Kothi, located in the heart of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is a historically significant monument that reflects the colonial-era architecture of the Nawabs of Awadh. Situated near the banks of the Gomti River, close to Charbagh and well-connected to major parts of the city, Dilkusha Kothi was originally built in the early 19th century as a hunting lodge and summer resort for the British residents. Inspired by English baroque and neoclassical styles, the structure is often compared to a European countryside mansion. Although now in ruins, the site remains a popular heritage attraction, drawing history enthusiasts, photographers, and tourists interested in the events of the 1857 Revolt, during which the Kothi played a strategic role. Surrounded by gardens and open grounds, Dilkusha Kothi offers visitors a peaceful escape while providing a glimpse into Lucknow’s rich colonial past.
