Chembra Peak, standing tall at 2,100 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in Wayanad and one of the most popular trekking destinations in Kerala. Located near Meppadi town, this majestic mountain offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Western Ghats, mist-covered valleys, and rolling tea plantations. The highlight of the trek is the heart-shaped lake (Hridaya Saras), believed to never dry up even in summer — a favorite spot for photographers and nature lovers alike. The trek, managed by the South Wayanad Forest Development Agency, is moderately challenging and perfect for adventure seekers who want to experience the untouched beauty of Wayanad’s highlands.

Chembra Peak is open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last trekking entry usually allowed before 2:00 PM to ensure visitors return before sunset. Entry to the trekking area costs approximately ₹20 per person for Indian visitors and ₹30 for foreigners. In addition, there is a trekking fee of around ₹1,500 per group of up to 10 members, which includes a guide and forest entry permit. Camera charges are around ₹40 for still cameras and ₹150 for video cameras. It’s advisable to book in advance, as daily visitor numbers are limited to protect the environment.
