The Bull Temple (Dodda Basavana Gudi), located in Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, is one of the city’s oldest and most revered religious landmarks, dedicated to Nandi, the sacred bull and devotee of Lord Shiva. Built in the 16th century by Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore, this Bangalore temple is famous for its massive monolithic granite statue of Nandi, which is over 4.5 meters high and 6 meters long. The temple’s Dravidian-style architecture and spiritual ambiance attract thousands of devotees and tourists every year. Visitors can also explore the nearby Bugle Rock Park and local markets. The Bull Temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and entry is free for all visitors.
