Basudev Than, nestled in the lush greenery of Dhakuakhana in Lakhimpur district, Assam, is a historic and spiritually significant satra/temple complex — also known as Narua Satra. Originally founded in 1392 CE under the patronage of the Chutia king Satyanarayan, the site took its present form in the 17th century when the Vaishnavite preacher Damodar Ata relocated and re-established the temple under the reign of the Ahom king Jayadhwaj Singha. Spread over nearly 200 bighas of forested terrain with three slopes and sixteen highlands, Basudev Than offers a serene, secluded atmosphere ideal for pilgrims and history-seekers alike. he site lies a short distance from Dhakuakhana town — making it accessible yet tranquil, surrounded by forest and natural ambience
